On Friday the 13th of October 2023 we invited a couple of friends to our studio for a secret silent live. Each instrument was passed through a DAW and every invitee was requested to bring their own headphones to connect themselves to our interface. The result was a shared headphones experience through the assistants which allowed us to continue playing until late without bothering our neighbours too much, giving the possibility to the assistants to join us for a series of jams after the show.

The fake purpose of this session was recording a live session, but it opened alternative ways of experiencing live music. The idea was taken from the concept of silent club/disco and emulating the set up of a live Snarky Puppy presentation. There are many technical issues that weren't addressed properly during the session mainly related to length of cable and the quality of each personal headphone. Unfortunately, this represented a restriction for the assistants who were constrained to their seats in order not to mess up with the set up. However, we have come up with a solution for the a possible next show which will be much cooler, just stay tuned.

The real purpose of this session was sharing an additional live session with our bassist, Giulia, who will soon leave the country. Giulia was the first person to join Yueh when it was only a solo project while still figuring out how to play the bass, and since then our friendship has been strengthen by this common ground. I love the idea that in a certain way we are outsider, I enjoy the background noise when I'm playing and the sloppiness of our initial approach, an approach that has evolved with time, but keeps having its own outsider signature. We are not experts, but we are trying to be the best we can. This is a never ending research.
